Engineered water-soluble two-dimensional magnetic nanocomposites: towards highly magnetic relaxometric properties

Hydrophobic magnetic nanoparticles were selectively deposited onto hydrophobic region of GO, leaving the hydrophilic region pristine. Such unique morphology was useful to improve MRI relaxivities due to (i) improved water accessibility and diffusion; and (ii) water retention by GO oxygen-containing functional groups.
