Self-assembly of freely diffusing nanostructures is a fundamental step affecting numerous natural and synthetic processes. Here, a novel regime and mechanist description is presented that explains the ballistic-like self-assembly and densification of diffusive ultra-fine nanoparticles with decreasing particle size.
