CO2 controlled flocculation of microalgae using pH responsive cellulose nanocrystals

Cellulose nanocrystals were grafted with imidazole functionalities (DS 0.06) producing a CO2-responsive flocculant for microalgal biomass. The resulting nanocrystals induced flocculation of Chlorella vulgaris with up to 90% efficiency.
