A series of underwater superoleophobic Ni/NiO surfaces with tunable oil adhesions are reported. The surface adhesion can be adjusted from the low adhesive rolling state to the high adhesive pinning state by simply changing the surface microstructures, which can result in different wetting states for the oil droplets on these surfaces.
