The interactive effect of agitation condition and titania particle size in hydrothermal synthesis of titanate nanostructures

The interactive effect of agitation condition and titania particle size in hydrothermal synthesis of titanate nanostructures: "

Abstract
The nucleation and growth mechanisms of hydrothermal synthesized nanotitanates are proposed based on the interaction effect
between agitation condition and pristine titania particle size. TEM examination and N2 adsorption measurements revealed distinct morphology and textural properties depending on TiO2 particle size in constant agitation condition. Regarding to the supersaturation degree, heterogeneous nucleation dominates
for nanotubes formation from large particle size of raw material. On the other hand, homogeneous nucleation determines nanospheres
formation from small particle size of raw material. The nanotubes have an outer diameter ranging from 8 to 10 nm and inner
diameter of 2 to 3 nm. The nanospheres have diameters ranging from 50 to 100 nm.

Synthesis and photo physical properties of Au @ Ag (core @ shell) nanoparticles disperse in poly vinyl alcohol matrix

Synthesis and photo physical properties of Au @ Ag (core @ shell) nanoparticles disperse in poly vinyl alcohol matrix: "

Abstract
Synthesis of core @ shell (Au @ Ag) nanoparticle with varying silver composition has been carried out in aqueous poly vinyl
alcohol (PVA) matrix. Core gold nanoparticle (~15 nm) has been synthesized through seed-mediated growth process. Synthesis
of silver shell with increasing thickness (~1–5 nm) has been done by reducing Ag+ over the gold sol in the presence of mild reducing ascorbic acid. Characterization of Au @ Ag nanoparticles has been done
by UV–Vis, High resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopic study.
The blue shift of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band with increasing mole fraction of silver has been interpreted due to
dampening of core, i.e. Au SPR by Ag. The dependence of nonlinear optical response of spherical core @ shell nanoparticles
has been investigated as a function of relative composition of each metal. Simulation of SPR extinction spectra based on quasi-static
theory is done. A comparison of our experimental and the simulated extinction spectra using quasi-static theory of nanoshell
suggests that our synthesized bimetallic particles have core @ shell structure rather than bimetallic alloy particles.

Gold nanorods synthesized by radiolysis were selectively end-functionalized by a fully conjugated thiol bearing a pendant terpyridine group; addition of ferrous ions led to the end-to-end 1D self-assembly of the nanorods. Similar results have been obtained when the preformed [(HStpy)Fe(tpySH)]2+ dithiol complex was directly added to the gold nanorods.

1-Hexadecylamine as both reducing agent and stabilizer to synthesize Au and Ag nanoparticles and their SERS application

1-Hexadecylamine as both reducing agent and stabilizer to synthesize Au and Ag nanoparticles and their SERS application: "

Abstract
1-Hexadecylamine (HDA)-capped Au and Ag nanoparticles (NPs) have been successfully prepared by a one-pot solution growth method.
The HDA is used as both reducing agent and stabilizer in the synthetic process is favorable for investigating the capping
mechanism of Au and Ag NPs’ surface. The growth process and characterization of Au and Ag NPs are determined by Ultraviolet–visible
(UV–vis) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Experimental results demonstrate
that the HDA-capped Au and Ag NPs are highly crystalline and have good optical properties. Furthermore, surface-enhanced Raman
scattering (SERS) spectra of 2-thionaphthol are obtained on the Au and Ag NPs modified glass surface, respectively, indicating
that the as-synthesized noble metal NPs have potentially high sensitive optical detection application.

In this paper, we report a new facile method to synthesize water-soluble Zn1-xCdxSe and core/shell Zn1-xCdxSe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) emitting in the violet−green spectral range, using N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) as a stabilizer. The influence of various experimental variables, including the precursor Zn/Cd/Se/NAC molar ratios, the pH of original solution and the refluxing time on optical properties were explored systematically. The obtained aqueous Zn1-xCdxSe QDs exhibit a tunable photoluminescence (PL) emission (from ∼415 nm to 506 nm) and a favorable narrow PL bandwidth (FWHM: 27–38 nm). After coating with a ZnS shell, the PL emission intensity of the formed core/shell Zn1-xCdxSe/ZnS QDs...

Synthesis and structural characterization of Eu(III)-doped Zn7Sb2O12

Synthesis and structural characterization of Eu(III)-doped Zn7Sb2O12: "

Abstract
In addition to the lanthanide series elements, Europium is one of the chemical elements of greatest interest for the development
of species with oxidation state +3 (III), which leads to interesting electronic transitions. In a general sense, their emission
spectrum lines are narrow and sensitive to effects of the ligand field around metallic ions. This property allows the use
of Eu(III) as a structural probe. In this work, samples of semiconductor Zn7Sb2O12 and of solid solutions based on isoelectronically Eu(III)-doped Zn7Sb2O12 with stoichiometry Zn7−3x
Eu2x
Sb2O12 were prepared. Both Zn7Sb2O12 and Zn7−3x
Eu2x
Sb2O12 were synthesized via a chemical route using Pechini’s method and characterized by Fourier transform infrared absorption
vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence spectroscopy. In order to perform further spectral analyses, each spectrum
was adjusted using a set of Gaussian functions. The FTIR spectrum analysis showed a slight band shift of the vibration mode
assigned to the Sb–O bonding ascribed to the [SbO6] octahedron vibration. The theoretical fitting of the luminescence curves showed a broadening of the most intense emission
peaks related to the transition Eu(III) 5D0 → 7F2. As a whole, the results suggest that a less symmetric Eu(III) site occupation in inverse spinel structure may occur in sites
close to the antimony octahedron, involving, however, non-substitutional site occupation.
