Shape-tailoring of gold nanostructures: can a detergent act as the reducing or protecting agent?

Shape-tailoring of gold nanostructures: can a detergent act as the reducing or protecting agent?: "

The synthesis of differently shaped gold nanoparticles can be performed in an aqueous solution at ambient conditions by using a commercial detergent that was found to be an effective reducing as well as stabilizing agent. In addition, the as-prepared gold nanoparticles were found to be able to act as an efficient catalyst for the reduction reaction of 4-nitrophenol at room temperature.
