Mechanical properties of amyloid-like fibrils are influenced by the secondary structure: for instance, a higher amount of ordered [small beta]-sheets contributes to enhance the rigidity while the presence of [small alpha]-helices appears to soften the nanostructure reducing the young's modulus.
