A family of Ag-Fe3O4 nanohybrids, including heterodimer and core-shell nanoparticles, are synthesized via a simple one-step reaction. The structural differences of these hybrid nanoparticles greatly affect their SERS properties, which might be very useful for applications in ultrasensitive detection and biological imaging.
