Ferromagnetic nanoparticles (Fe3 O4 , MNPs) with peroxidase-like activity enhanced oxidative cleavage of biofilm matrix components (nucleic acids, proteins and polysaccharides) in the presence of H2 O2 , providing a novel strategy for biofilm prevention and elimination, as well as killing bacteria within the biofilm.
