The X-ray structure of a [Au₂₄ (SCH₂ Ph-^t Bu)₂₀ ]⁰ nanocluster is reported, which comprises a bi-tetrahedral Au₈ kernel and four staple-like tetrameric Au₄ (SR)₅ motifs.
