Ni-Au-ZnO ternary hybrid nanocrystals with plasmonic, magnetic and semiconducting properties have been prepared. They not only exhibit excellent photocatalytic activities for the degradation of organic dyes but also can be readily recycled by a magnetic field for reuse due to their superparamagnetic properties.
