Highly fluorescent amino-functionalized carbon dots were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of glucosamine with excess pyrophosphate. We further designed a surface energy transfer system between the carbon dots and hyaluronate stabilized gold nanoparticles for the detection of hyaluronidase.
