A novel modulated photoluminescence sensor based on CdTe QD@silica nanobeads was developed. The PL intensity of the nanobeads was changed significantly when Fe3+ was reduced to Fe2+ , but could be recovered by oxidizing Fe2+ to Fe3+ . The sensor can be used to detect ascorbic acid.
