Sub-10 nm [small beta]-Na(Y,Gd)F4 :Ce,Tb,Eu/[small beta]-NaYF4 core/shell nanocrystals show highly bright and multicolor emission under a single wavelength excitation via energy transfer of Ce3+ [rightward arrow] Gd3+ [rightward arrow] Tb3+ [rightward arrow] Eu3+ and the nanoparticle-polymer composites show high transparency and multicolor tunability.
